Badvel is a 3rd grade Municipality in the district of Kadapa (Renamed as YSR district).
Badvel Municipality was constituted on 15 may 2006 by merging four Gram Panchayats viz., Badvel, Madakalavaripalli, Gunthapalli and Chennampalli.
It is spread over an area of 51.00 Sq.km having a population of 70949 as per 2011 census and is located at a distance of 55km from Kadapa.
The water supply to the town at present is fully dependent on ground water.
There are about 78 power pumps fitted in bore wells and 192 hand pumps fitted in bore wells.
On verification it has been that about 58 power bore wells and 60 hand pumps are functioning.
There are 24 bore wells which are pumping water to the ELSRs and the rest 34 bore wells are directly pumping water to the distribution system.
Per capita supply of water is about 70 liters.
Water to the ill served and un-served areas is supplied with the help of 1 Municipal tanker and 6 private tankers, total supply of water is about 6.76MLD The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has received a loan from World Bank to improve the water supply services and support improvements in the financial, technical and management capacities of ULBs to sustain the infrastructures being created to ensure the desired level of water supply.
This project covered under the World Bank loan.
The project is administratively and technically sanctioned for Rs. 110.00 cores and 94% of the work is completed, Nearly 2 MLD of water is being supplied from Braham sagar resorviour to Badvel Municipality along with surface water and power bore wells 80% of water is given to the People residing in Badvel Municipality.
For Deficit and unserved areas water is being supplied through Private tankers to Mitigate Drinking water problem.
It is located 410 Kms from Capital City and 62 KMs from District Head Quearters. It was established as 3rd Grade Municipality in the Year 2006.
There are 26 Election wards in this Municipality.
Badvel Town in general, has a tropical climate, winters last from November to February, while summers last from March to June. The Annual rain fall in 60 mm, most of it received during the months of October 2015.
Demegrophy:
The Population of the town which was 50720 in 2001 increased to 70949 in 2011 with an increase of 39% in the last decade. The sex ratio is female per 1000 males the literacy rate is 2 % of the made population and 1 % of the female population are literate.
