Karnataka Government is going to track bogus ration cards in state very strictly now. This step has been taken after recent incident where duplicate BPL ration cards were identified at 950 fair price shops. As per the official statement, strict action will be taken against all the culprits and all 950 bogus cards will be seized completely. Cleansing process has started and as per the latest reports, about 1.6 lakh bogus ration cards are seized till now.
It is state capital Bengaluru where most of the cases are filed. Department is tagging all the cases as per Essential Commodities Act and the Indian Penal Code. Official sources are further planning to eradicate the reach of private bodies for distributing foodstuffs at Fair Price Shops (FPS). They are looking out at the ways to run all 20000 FPS through Government recognized bodies only.
Under Ujjwala scheme, state Government has decided to distribute free stuff to eligible users in the state. Free commodities will be:
Urban Areas: Either 5 KG LPG Cylinder or Cooking Stove
Rural Areas: Cooking Stove or refill cylinder or solar lights (people are free to choose any one of these 3 items)
Under Ujjwala scheme, Central Government is distributing free LPG connection for BPL families. All the eligible families will get additional benefits from sate government that we discussed above.
