Mangalgiri Municipality Details

Mangalgiri Municipality was formed in the year 1959 and now is 2nd grade Municipality with a population of 73,613 as per 2011 census.The Municipality at present having an area of 10.58 sq.KMs.The town is the head quarters of Mangalagiri Mandal under Guntur revenue divison.It also forms a part of the Andhra pradesh capital region.Mangalagiri municipality has a total of 32 election ward

Etymology

The Mangalagiri town has derived from its original name “TOTADRI”. The Mangalagiri denotes that Mangala is Subham and GIRI means a Hill i.e., a hill which gives subham to the people and also there is a story that the supreme Lord to all subhams are Vigneswara and the shape of the Hill is like head of Elephant/Vigneswara. Hence it is called as Mangalagiri.

Geography

Mangalagiri is located at 16.43°N 80.55°E. It has an average elevation of 29.08 m (95.4 ft).

Climate

The climate in Mangalagiri is tropical. The hottest months are from March–May and the coolest months from December–January. It receives south-west in the months of July–October and north–east monsoons in mid December. The average annual rainfall is 50–60cm. The summer temperatures varies from 44–46°C and the winter temperatures from 22–23°C.

Macherla Municipality Details

Macherla Municipality was formed in the year of 1983 and now is 2nd grade Municipality with a population of 57,296 as per 2011 census. The Municipality at present having an area of 32.94 Sq.KMs. The town is the head quarter of Macherla Mandal under Gurazala Revenue Division. Macherla Municipality has a total of 29 election wards.

History

It is the capital of the region Palnadu. The name Macherlaoriginated from Mahadevi Cherla. This town is in the heart of Palnadu, and has a history of over a thousand years. The famous battle Palnati Yudhdham (War of Palnadu) took place between Macherla and Gurajala between 1176 AD – 1182 AD.

Neighbourhoods

Sri Laxmi Chennakesava Swamy Temple was built around the 13th century A.D and renovated by Reddi King “Peruri Muktiraju”.[6]Another temple dedicated to Veerabhadraswamy is located in the Old town. It was built in the 18th century A.D. Laxmi Chennakesava Swamy temple was built around the 13th century A.D in Nagulavaram village, located 12 km from Macherla town.

Nagarjunakonda Museum Nagarjunakonda, meaning the hill of Nagarjuna, was named after the Buddhist scholar and savant Acharya Nagarjuna. It was a great religious centre promoting Brahmanism and Buddhist faiths, moulding the early phases of art and architecture affiliated with them. The Ethipothala Falls lies 8 km from Macherla, is a mountain stream cascading down the hills as Chandravanka and Suryavanka streams. The Suryavanka falls from a height of 21 meters into a lagoon and joins River Krishna.

Notable people

Palanati Brahmanaidu is the minister to Haihaya kings who tried to abolish the caste system by “CHAPA KOODU” or “Sahapankthi Bhojanalu” in the 12th century.

Jammalamadugu Municipality Details

As of 2001 India census,[6] Jammalamadugu had a population of 46,000 approximately. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Jammalamadugu has an average literacy rate of 79.5%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 85%, and female literacy is 74%. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Yerraguntla railway station is a junction for Nandyal-Yerranguntla section. It falls under the jurisdiction of Guntakal railway division.

Pulivendula Municipality Details

Pulivendula Municipality is 3rd largest ULB in the Y.S.R.(Kadapa) District of A.P. It is spread over an area of 87.17Sq.Km. With a population of 65,706 (2011 Census).

It is known for/Famous for Ranganatha Swami Temple is located in pulivendula. Sri Ranganatha Temple is religious Center of Sri Vaishnavism Propogated by Saint Ramanujam From Sri Rangam.

According to an ancient saying “Pulivendula” is reffered to as “Puli Mandala” which was a forest with reasonably high tiger population. Later it has changed colloquial as pulivendula.

Pulivendula, the head quarters of the taulk,is situated on the road from Kadiri to Muddanur, being 27 miles north of kadirinand 23 miles south of Muddanur Railway Station.

It is one of the fast developing towns in the district. This is the most popular town in the kadapa district and state as well for its political background.

Location:

It is located 500 Kms from capital city and 72 Kms from District Headquarters. It was established as 3rd grade Municipality in the year 2005.

Economy:

Pulivendula Town has a number of factories in and around the town.

· Govindaraja Textiles employs nearly 800 local people.

· NSL Textiles employs nearly 200 local people.

· Samyu Glass Factory employs nearly 300 local people.

· Bharati Polymers employs nearly 300 local people.

· Bag’s factory near Pulivendula employs nearly 200 local people.

Climate:

The town has moderate and healthy Climate conditions. The normal maximum temperature is 44°C and minimum 22°C. The town receives scanty rainfall both from South-West and North-East monsoons.

Rainfall:

The town gets rainfall from the South-West and North-East monsoon, the average rainfall recorded in pulivendula town is about 800 mm.

Demography:

The population of the town which was 57444 in 2001 increased to 65706 in 2011 with an increase of 13% in the last decade.

History & Culture:

Pulivendula Town is known in the state of Andhra Pradesh because of its political existence. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was one of the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh. His tenure was from 2004-09 and he was elected again as a chief minister in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2009. He died three months after his victory in a helicopter crash near Nallamala forest on September 2, 2009. His son Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, President of YSR Congress, is the present opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh State Assembly.

Pulivendula Town has wide roads, an underground drainage system and a ring road. Pulivendula is connected to Kadapa by a four-lane road, like a national highway. All nearby villages are connected to Pulivendula by double roads.

On August 23, 2007, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) gave its approval for the establishment of a uranium mine and processing plant at “Mabbuchintalapalli-Tummalapalle” , about 15 kilometers south of Pulivendula, at a total cost of 11.06 billion rupees ($269.9 million). The plant was set up by the Uranium Corporation of India. Its foundation stone was laid on 20 November 2007 by Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Rajampet Municipality Details

Rajampet has an average elevation of 139 meters.Rajampet was a Gram panchayat before 2005. It was upgraded as Nagar Panchayat on 2 April 2005 and has an extent of 20.60 km2 (7.95 sq mi).It consists of 20 election wards.Rajampet is a part of Rajampet (Assembly constituency) for Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Meda Venkata Mallikarjuna Reddy is the present MLA of the constituency from Telugu Desam Party. It is also a part of Rajampet (Lok Sabha constituency) which was won by P. V. Midhun Reddy of YSR Congress Party.

There are numerous schools and colleges in Rajampet. In 1998, First engineering college by name Annamacharya Institute of Technology & Sciences was established. Other professional colleges include Narayanadri Engineering College, Modugula Kalavathamma College of Engineering for women.

Roads are well connected to all major national highways. Rajampet railway station is under South Central Railway of Guntakal railway division.

Revenue Divisions are the administrative divisions in districts of some of the Indian states. These divisions are sub-divided into mandals. The mandals are in turn divided into villages and hamlets. There are 50 revenue divisions in Andhra Pradesh, of which East Godavari district has as many as 7 divisions and Vizianagaram district has the least number with 2 divisions. Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) is the head of the division.

Rajampet Assembly constituency is a constituency of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, India, being one among 10 constituencies in Kadapa district. It is part of Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency along with other six Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, Kodur, Rayachoti, in Kadapa district and Thamballapalle Pileru, Madanapalle, Punganur in Chittor district.
