Pedana Municipality Details

Pedana Municipality is 3rd grade ULB in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 12.87 Sq.kms. with a population of 30,835 (2011 Census) it is known for/Famous for its making handloom Sarees and Kalamkari.

Location:

It is located at 110kms from Capital City and 6kms from District Head Quarters. It was established as 3rd Grade Pedana Municipality in the year of 1985.There are 4 zones/and 23 Election wards in this Municipality.

Topography:

The town is located on the east coast in the Krishna District at Delta region at a distance about 10 km from sea. Compared to other coastal towns, Pedana is situated on a generally flat terrain with a level difference of about 6 to 8 meters between the maximum and minimum levels. The town is situated at a level of about 2m to 1m above MSL. The Ramaraju Canal passes through the southeast in the town. The natural ground slope of the town is in general from southeast direction towards Bay of Bengal.

Climate and Rainfall:

Pedana Town general has a Tropical climate, Winters last from November to February, while summer last from March to June. The annual rainfall is 147mm, most of it received during the months of May, October, November and December.

Demography:

The population of the town which was 29,612 in 2001 increased to 30,835 in 2011 with an increase of 1.57% in the last decade. The literacy rate is 65.08%, 69.96% of the male population and 60.20% of the female population are literate.

Economy:

During the year it is an estimate an amount of Rs.6.21crores as receipt by way of Taxes and Non-Taxes and other receipts. And an amount of Rs.5.83crores expenditure incurred. Surplus is 0.38crores.

Environmental Issues :

The town generally has a pleasant climate except in the months of April to June when it becomes quite hot. Recorded maximum and minimum temperatures are 45°C and 17.60°C respectively. Pedana is one of the cyclone affected areas of Andhra Pradesh. Generally during the months of November, depressions develop in Bay of Bengal and in most of the time it passes through Krishna and Guntur Districts. As a result huge rainfall occurs during this time. Because of very high wind speed and heavy showers the town becomes highly affected with huge property loss. The recorded highest annual rainfall in the town is about 1470mm. Nearly 75% of the annual rain fall occurs during this time predominantly from south-west. During the heavy rains about 30% of town area will be inundated causing huge loss of property.

Urban Poor:

Under “NTR Bharosa Pensions” 811 – No. of Old Age Pensions, 895-Widow Pension, 460- Disabled Pensions, 2159-Weavers Pensions & 6-Toddy Tappers were distributed in every month. Under SEP Loans:128-BC Loans,44-SC Loans,48-ST Loans ,183-Minority Loans,2 no’s of Christian Minority Loans, 95-Kapu Welfare Loans,- No. of Beneficiaries were identified, Relevant Applications forwarded to concerned banks were sanction of loans.

History & Culture:

Pedana town with in the 8 km to the Head quarters of the District since the British period till date. It is also the Head quarters of the Mandal. It is a trading centre for the Handloom Sarees and Kalamkari items. It is having only one Government Junior College and one Private Degree Junior College.

The famous temple is “Sivalayam Temple” was established in 200years ago. The famous PaidammaTalli festival is conducting for 11 days every year, and around 2lakhs pilgrims are visiting the temple. Pedana Municipality was arranged all the festive requirements i.e. lightening, sanitation and temporary toilets for the pilgrims etc.

Gudur Municipality Details

Gudur is third largest town and municipality,in Nellore District in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In India, Gudur is the largest division in Nellore and a very old municipality. The mica belt around Gudur is considered the 2nd largest in the country. The mica deposits are located in a 1000sq.km. area surrounding Gudur.

History:

he roots of the town began during the Chola Dynasty. It is believed that Cholas constructed Alaganatha Swamy temple. Later the town developed around this temple. It is the largest temple in Gudur. The Satavahanas, Cholas, Pallavas, Telugu Cholas, Kakatiyas, Vijayanagara kings, and Golkonda Nawabs ruled this area. The town is also linked with the history of Venkatagiri (ruled by Yachendra family), which is close by, 42 km from Gudur. Shridi Sai baba Temple,Narasingarao pet,Gudur, This is Old Temple Constructed at 1938,at that time baba advised to construct the temple.

Climate:

Gudur is very hot in summer. The town is quite frequently affected by cyclones and has an almost nonexistent winter. The best season to visit is from October to March. The eastern part of town is flooded often during the rainy season with people facing hardships. This is due to the apathy of the administrative authorities and the uncontrolled swamping of fields by the local populace.Its a pity that Gudur does not have any good infrastructure. Bad roads and worst sewage system add to the rainy season woes. Little was done for the improvement of the conditions.Afforestation and laying roads will improve this place.

Economy:

Gudur’s economy depends on mica, lemons, and aquaculture.The mica belt around Gudur is considered the 2nd largest in the country. The mica deposits are located in a 1000sq.km. area covering Gudur, Rapur and Atmakur mandals of the Nellore district. Gudur is accessible by road and rail road.

Road

Gudur is located beside the four lane National Highway 5 called as NH-5. This reduced the travel time to Chennai and Nellore, Within the town, the roads are very narrow and maintained poorly. Most of the town is accessible by walking. Bicycles and motorcycles are the preferred mode of personal transportation vehicles. Manual rickshaws are available for hire round the clock. Autorickshaws are picking up recently but they are mainly serving the people traveling to villages around the town.

Few private buses provide transportation to the nearby cities/villages. Public transportation is provided by the State government. State government operated vehicles cover even very remote areas.

Railway

Gudur is a railway junction, located between Chennai and Vijayawada, with connections to Tirupathi. This is one of the big railway junctions giving the route to Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, and to Tirupathi, the holy sacred place for Hindus, to which people come from all over the country.

Nellimarla Municipality Details

Nellimarla is located in the northern part of coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, India. Nellimarla is the nearest town of Vedic Village i.e Ramatheerdham. It is the nearest town of the district headquarters of Vizianagaram district. It is located 24 km inland from the Bay of Bengal and 48 km to the northeast of Visakhapatnam. The State high way is on Vizianagaram to Rajam is going across the town.

HISTORY

Nellimarla having the popular since British time a large jute mill and also having biggest medical college. This town has bounded railway track on east side, hills on west side MIMS Hospital, Vizianagaram town on south side and Gurla on north side.

GEOGRAPHY

It is located in 18.1667°N 83.4333°E coordinates with an average elevation of 190 meters, bounded by Srikakulam on the east, Visakhapatnam on the south west, bay of Bengal on the south east, Odisha on the north west.

CLIMATE

Nellimarla is highly humid all through the year and has good seasonal rains with a benefit of both south west and north east monsoons. The climate parts of the district is different from that of the plain. Nellimarla fully rounded 4 sides of hills.

DEMOGRAPHY

The population of the district is 23,44,474 and the municipality population is 24,673 as per 2011 census. The town has a population of 24,673 which constitutes of 11843 males and 12829 females with sex ratio of 1084 females per 1000 males. There are 1973 children are in the age group of 0-6 years. The average literacy rate is 62%.

GOVERNANCE

Nellimarla was constituted as a Nagar Panchayat in the year vide GO.MS.No.100,dt.20/03/2013 with an extent of 19.80 sq mts. Duly merged Two Major Gram Panchayats of Jarajapu Peta and Nellimarla.

Parvathipuram Municipality Details

Parvathipuram is a municipality in Parvathipuram mandal, located in Vizianagaram district of Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Parvathipuram mandal of Parvathipuram revenue division.

As of 2011 census, Parvathipuram had a population of 53,844. The total population constitute, 26,811 males and 27,033 females a sex ratio of 1008 females per 1000 males. 5,048 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 2,607 are boys and 2,441 are girls a ratio of 936 per 1000. The average literacy rate stands at 79.14% with 38,618 literates, significantly higher than the state average of 67.41%

Parvathipuram is located at 18°46’N 83°25’E. It has an average elevation of 120 meters (393.7 feet).

The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state. The medium of instruction followed by different schools are English, Telugu.

Parvathipuram is represented by Parvathipuram (SC) (Assembly constituency) for Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Araku (Lok Sabha constituency). Bobbili Chiranjeevulu is the present MLA of the constituency representing Telugu Desam Party.

There are two railway stations Parvathipuram and Parvathipuram Town within 1 kilometre (0.62 mi).

Yelamanchili Municipality Details

Yelamanchili Municipality is constituted as Grade-III Municipality in the year 2012.Yelamanchilii was once called as ella – majili, which is the border village of Kalinga and Andhra empires. This place was used for the collection of taxes as it is on the border of these areas.

Many Historical and archaeological evidences were found in the surroundings of Yelamanchili dating back the history of this town to the times of Early Buddhism in India, Jainism and Medieval Hinduism. The Kotturu Dhanadibbalu Buddhist and Dharapalem Hindu sites respectively are near this town. This particular area of Yelamanchili was once under the rule of Andhra-Sathavahanas. Some Pre-historic findings were excavated from the surroundings of Panchadharla, Dharapalem and Yelamanchili surrounding Hills of Eastern Ghats. Research work is under progress on these excavations,and recently found lord venkateswara swamy statue.

The village of Sarvasiddhi (10 km from Yelamanchili) was constructed by Eastern Chalukyas King Kubja Vishnuvardhan during 615 CE. Vishnuvardhana ruled over a kingdom extending from Nellore to Visakhapatnam. He assumed the title of Vishamasiddhi (conqueror of difficulties). Vishnuvardhana participated in the wars between his brother Putekesin II and the Pallava Narasimhavarma I and probably lost his life in battle in 641 CE. This area was under the Eastern Chalukyas. Yelamanchili was under the rule of Eastern Chalukyas as some edicts were found by the name of Vijayaditya VII (1063 – 1068 C.E., 1072 – 1075 C.E.) at Yelamanchili.

The famous Dharmalingeswara Temple at Panchadharla was believed to be constructed along with the famous shrine Simhachalam in Visakhapatnam.

Demographics

As of Census 2011 the town has population of 27,265 of which 13,365 are males and 13,900 are females. Average Sex Ratio is of 1040 against state average of 993. Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 2587 which is 9.49% of total population of Yelamanchili. Child Sex Ratio in the town is around 926 compared to Andhra Pradesh state average of 939. Literacy rate of Yelamanchili town is 77.14% higher than state average of 67.02%.
