Digital Ration Card is the new way of dealing with typical ration cards in India. Digital Ration Card is an initiative that aims to provide all rashan card related activities through online portals. Today every Indian state has its own dedicated Food & Supply portal which offers various e-services related to rasan card.

Indian states with Digital Ration Card facility

Every state government has integrated some of the essential features of Ration Card to online platform. Much work is still to be done but yes every state has dedicated portal where one can find required information about ration card process. Some states like Delhi, Andhra Pradesh,

Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (UP) etc has fully automated the ration card process in respective states.

Please note that for now we are relating the word Digital Ration Card with dedicated portals only. Digital ration cards are started in few states like West Bengal where you don’t need to carry hard copy of ration card any more. Other states are trying and hopefully they will succeed very soon.

How to use/issue Digital Ration Card in India?

Visit official PDS Portal from here. This page will list down all the Indian States and Union Territories. Page will look like shown in below image:

Simply select the state that you want to check details for. You will be then redirected to official ration card portal of that particular state. Select the required options there and that’s it.

This is how you can use digital platform developed for supporting ration card queries online. Talking about real digital rashan card that can be used in place of hard copies then I believe it is going to take some time. It will be released state wise state and will be sole responsibility of state government.

In the mean time you must link your Aadhar Card to Ration card so that you don’t miss any important scheme from the government.
