Chimakurthy Municipality Details

Chimakurthy town is a Major Gram Panchayat converted as Nagar Panchayat vide G.O. No. 355 MA & UD Dt : 22-08-2011 and is fastly expanding during recent years. State Highway, from Ongole to Kurnool is passing through this town. It is developed as a Galaxy Granite industry. The town is nearly 40km from Bay of Bengal and sub soil characteristics are mostly Black Cotton.

Location

Chimakurthy is a City in Chimakurthi Mandal in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh State, India. It belongs to Andhra region . It is located 23 KM towards west from District head quarters Ongole. It is a Mandal head quarter.

There are 4 Zones/ and 20 Election wards in this Nagara Panchayat.

Ongole is the Nearest Town to Chimakurthy. Ongole is 22 km from Chimakurthy. Road connectivity is there from Ongole to Chimakurthy.

There is no railway station near to Chimakurthy in less than 10 km. How ever There are railway stations from Near By town Ongole. Ongole Rail Way Station , Karavadi Rail Way Station are the railway stations near to Ongole. You can reach from Ongole to Chimakurthy by road after . How ever Guntur Jn Rail Way Station is major railway station 112 KM near to Chimakurthy

Demography

The population of the town which was 20,042 in 2001 increased to 30,332 in 2011 with an increase of 66.07% in the last decade.

The sex ratio is 934 females per 1000 males. The literacy rate is 65%. In this 59.6% of the male population and 40.4% of the female population are iterate.

Overview

The town is important business center and education center. There are Engineering College, B.E.D College, junior residential colleges, High Schools and hospitals etc., in Chimakurthy.

At the most of the nearby the town is dry lands, there is ample scope for development. Mainly expansion of the town is being taking place on western and Northern parts of the town.

As old town is being fully built up and congested development is taking place on extended areas.

The people from rural areas are migrating to the town from the nearby villages due to availability of civic facilities as narrated above.

Krishna Municipality Details

Krishna District gets its name from the holy river Krishna, the third largest river that flows in India. The river Krishna originates near Mahabaleswar (Maharastra) and joins the Bay of Bengal near Hamsaladevi Village in our district.

Krishna is considered the kernel of Telugu Culture and is the birth place of the famous Indian classical dance form – Kuchipudi. The dialect of Telugu spoken in Krishna is widely considered to be the standard form of Telugu.

Vijayawada Municipality Details

Vijayawada is a city on the banks of the Krishna River, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipal corporation and the headquarters of Vijayawada (urban) mandal in Krishna district of the state.

The city is one of the suburbs of the state capital Amaravati, under the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, and the headquarters of APCRDA.

The city is one of the major trading and business centres of the state and hence, it is also known as “The Business Capital of Andhra Pradesh”.

The city is one of the two metropolis in the state, with the other being Visakhapatnam. As of 2011 census, the city had a population of 1,048,240, making it the second largest city in the state in terms of population and it had an urban agglomeration population of 1,491,202.

The city has been recognized as a “Global City of the Future” by McKinsey Quarterly. It is one of the commercial hubs of Andhra Pradesh with a GDP of $3 billion in 2010, and is expected to increase to $17 billion by 2025.

Geography

Vijayawada is located at 16.5193°N 80.6305°E and has an altitude of 11 m (36 ft). It lies on the banks of Krishna River and is also surrounded on the north by Budameru River. The northern, northwestern, and southwestern parts of the city are covered by a low range of hills, while the central, southwestern and northwestern parts are covered by rich and fertile agriculture lands with three major irrigation canals. The topography of Vijayawada is flat, with a few small to medium-sized hills. The Krishna River runs along the city. These hills are part of the Eastern Ghats cut through by the Krishna river. Three canals originating from the north side of the Prakasham barrage reservoir, Eluru, Bandar and Ryves, run through the city.

Demographics

As of 2011 Census of India, the city had a population of 1,048,240. The total population constitute, 524,918 males and 523,322 females —a sex ratio of 997 females per 1000 males, higher than the national average of 940 per 1000. 92,848 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 47,582 are boys and 45,266 are girls—a ratio of 951 per 1000. The average literacy rate stands at 82.59% (male 86.25%; female 78.94%) with 789,038 literates, significantly higher than the national average of 73.00%.

The Vijayawada urban agglomeration had a population of 1,491,202 The city’s population is expected to reach 2.5 million by 2025. The Muslims constitute about 250,000 or approximately 21% of the total 1.2 million population in Vijayawada.

Economy

Agriculture, commercial trade, tourism, industries, transportation and tertiary sectors etc., are the major sectors that contribute to the economy of the city. Vijayawada is famous for processing of agricultural products, automobile body building, hardware, textile, consumer goods and small scale industries. GDP of Vijayawada for 2008 was stimated at Rs 55.26 billion and it was $3 billion (Rs. 180 billion) in 2010. The fact that Vijayawada is well connected through rail and road, makes it one of the main hubs of commercial activities.

The city is promoting the usage of renewable energy sources. It is one of the city in the state to use biodiesel, alongsideVisakhapatnam. The city is covered under Solar/Green Cities scheme launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and is one of the 15 cities in the country listed in Pilot Solar Cities.

Agro-based industries such as cotton, turmeric, and Virginia tobacco are located in the surrounding areas. There are also oil, dal and rice mills located at Kondapalli. Real Estate is another sector in Vijayawada which is very high in property prices and are comparable with top cities of India.

Industrial estates

The two well equipped industrial estates in Vijayawada are Auto-Nagar and other near Kondapalli. The Jawahar Lal Nehru Auto Nagar Industrial Estate in Vijayawada is one of the largest auto industry hubs of Asia. The industrial estate in Kondapalli suburb is spread over 450 acres (1.8 km2), and is base to more than 800 industries. The Kondapalli Estate houses thermal power plants, and is base to more than 800 industrial units. Kondapalli suburb also houses Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery and Engineering Limited (APHMEL) factory. It is also a hub for storage, bottling and transportation of petroleum products of all major companies like BPCL, HPCL, IOC etc.

Culture

Vijayawada – Kanaka Durga Temple

The city has good history in art, literature and culture. There exists many religions, languages with different traditions and festivals. Dussera celebrations are noticeable which involves Durga Pooja, Theppotsavam mainly due to the existence of self manifested Kanaka Durga Temple, other festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali etc., of Hindus, Eid ul-Fitr of Muslims and Christmas of Christians. The clothing includes traditional men wearing dhoti and women wearing saree and salwar kameez. Western clothing is also predominant in the urban areas.

Arts, crafts and artefacts

Vijayawada Art Society promotes Telugu arts. The city had hosted Poetic Prism-2015, a multi-lingual poet’s meet in the city on 19 September 2015. All these activities are organized in collaboration with organisations like the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada. Kondapalli Toys are an example handmade toys by local artisans at Kondapalli village, a suburb of Vijayawada. Victoria Jubilee Museum is an archaeological museum which has sculptures, paintings and artifacts of Buddhist and Hindu relics, dated back to 2nd and 3rd centuries.

Visakhapatnam is a port city on the southeast coast of India and often called “The Jewel of the East Coast” .

With a population of 20,91,811 and occupying 681.96 sq.km(proposed), it is the second largest city in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the third largest city on the east coast of India (after Chennai and Kolkata).

Visakhapatnam is located 625 kilometres (388 mi) east of the state capital, Hyderabad. The city is home to several state-owned heavy industries and a steel plant; it is one of India’s largest seaports and has the country’s oldest shipyard. Visakhapatnam has the only natural harbour on the east coast of India.

It is nestled among the hills of the Eastern Ghats and faces the Bay of Bengal on the east. Visakhapatnam is the administrative headquarters of Visakhapatnam district and headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.

Before British

Vizag, the Port city is the jewel on the eastern coast of India, 2nd Biggest City Next to Capital Hyderabad. The City is a harmonious blend of the magical past and the bustling present with a breath taking panorama of golden beaches, lush green fields, verdant valleys and splendid monuments from a historically rich and religious heritage.

During British

Vizagapatnam the colonial name given to the city have become one of the important and strategic power centre for the British. British built its settlement here in Waltair which housed their Residence.

After British

From a tiny little fishing village in the previous century, Vizag as part of the coastal Andhra region came under French control in the late 18th century; the Dutch had established a colony in the early part of the 18th century. The English on establishing the Raj developed Waltair as a sister town of Vizag in the Madras Presidency. The city was the largest city at the time of Indian Independence and was divided into three manageable districts.

Vizag in modern Times

The transformation of Vizag is unique in its speed, scale, and politics. With just 25 years iunder the hood it changed from a sleepy town to bustling busines town. Vizag’s dramatic transformation into a bustling business town without leaving its sheer natural beauty and calmness is true awsomeness that calls for huge applause.

Eluru Municipality Details

Eluru (erstwhile HELAPURI) is located 160-14′ north latitude and 81°- 05′ eastern longitude on the globe.

It is situated on alluvial terrain in between the Krishna and Godavari deltas.

It is a Class I town with a population of 2.17 lakh in 2011 covering an area of 11.52 sq.km, with 50 municipal Divisions.

Eluru is the district headquarters of West Godavari District located along the rail and road route connecting Kolkata and Chennai cities

Historical importance

From 3rd century BC, West Godavari region has been hub of various activities.

Many kings ruled over the region. Helapuri (Eluru) was part of the Buddhist kingdom of Vengi.

Guntupalli near Kamavarapukota was the place of a Buddhist monastery of the 3rd century BC during the regime of Satavahanas.

Later Ikshwakhs, Bruhatyalayanas, Salayankas, etc. established their Kingdoms.

Pedavegi near Eluru had been their capital for long and more over it was centreof learning in those days.

Denduluru near Eluru was the capital for VikramendraVarma’s empire during the 6th century A.D. Historical evidence can be found at the villages of Pedavegi and Guntupalli (Jilakarragudem).

Raja RajaNarendra who patronized great poets and scholars such as Nannaya, NarayanaBhattu and Mallana belonged to this dynasty.

ChalukyaVeerabadhadra, husband of Rudrama Devi was the ruler of Nidadavole in West Godavari district.

Eluru then became a part of the Kalinga Empire until 1471. Later it fell into the hands of the Gajapathis. In 1515 Srikrishnadevarayacaptured it.

After the fall of the Vijayanagara Kingdom, it was taken by the Sultan of Golkonda, Kutub Shah.After the British established control over South India, Eluru and surrounding areas were merged into the Madras Presidency.

During the division of Northern Cirkars into districts, Eluru was made a part of Machilipatnam district.

Later, it was included in the Godavari District in 1859. Subsequently, Eluru was made part of the Krishna District. Finally, in the year 1925, West GodavariDistrict was formed with Eluru as its Headquarters and all the district offices and regional offices were set up in Eluru city.
